About the Hosts:
Jeff and Colleen Shirey discovered salsa nearly 30 years ago while listening to a Latin band at a Pittsburgh nightclub. They have been hooked on the music and dance ever since.
What started out as a hobby, developed into a passion and unexpected second vocation. As founders of Salsa Pittsburgh, Jeff & Colleen teach group and private lessons, offer DJ services, and manage salsapittsburgh.com, a website dedicated to salsa dancing in Pittsburgh. They can be found most Sunday afternoons teaching group salsa classes at the Wightman School Community Building in Squirrel Hill, where they teach six-week class cycles six times per year for beginner and intermediate level dancers.

Jeff & Colleen were the hosts of Salsa Fridays at Greer Cabaret Theater, a Pittsburgh Cultural Trust event that lasted 11+ years. The Shireys have also organized over 30 large-scale salsa dance/workshop weekends that have showcased the talents of many international salsa professionals and world champions.

Whether you’re a stationery nerd, DIY Bride-to-be, or just a crafty individual, in this workshop you’ll be learning an introduction to modern calligraphy with a pointed dip pen and ink. We will cover all the basics and prepare you to add those unique lettered details to your snail mail, wedding paper goods, home decor, and more! The perfect Wicked crafty night out for all witches!

Class includes 1.5 hours of instruction and demonstration, our beginner’s calligraphy kit (two nibs, black ink pot, 2 letter guides, tracing paper and straight pen holder), and all materials to write on. Hugo Cruz and Caminos! released an album in February 2022 called Punto de Partida, featuring many notable musicians from Cuba and the U.S., recording eight of Hugo’s original compositions. In May 2022 Caminos was the Jazz Band headliner for the Westsylvania Jazz and Blues Festival in Indiana PA. Caminos also have been performing a concert series called, “The Voice of Drums”, which brings many great drummers from the Pittsburgh area such as: Roger Humphries, Poogie Bell, Tubby Daniels, Noel Quintana, Dennis Gardner, Jeff Berman, and James Johnson III to join Camino’s way of expressing music.

What are Family Constellations?
Imagine life as a big jigsaw puzzle. Each family is a puzzle, and every person is like a piece. Sometimes, a piece may feel like it doesn’t fit—this could show up as struggles with relationships, emotions, health, or even success.

Systemic and Family Constellations is a gentle yet profound way of putting the puzzle back together so each piece finds its rightful place. It helps us see hidden dynamics—unspoken loyalties, unresolved grief, or inherited burdens we may be carrying from our parents, grandparents, or even further back.

This method was developed by Bert Hellinger (1925–2019), a German psychotherapist and philosopher who observed that families, like rivers, have a natural flow. When that flow is disturbed, difficulties arise. By restoring order, belonging, and balance, peace and healing can return—not only for the individual, but often for the whole family system.

The workshop will be in English, designed to be experiential and deeply transformative. Even within a few hours, participants often walk away with clarity, emotional release, and a renewed sense of belonging.

One or two participants bring forward a personal issue. With the group’s support, a “living map” of their family or system is created. Hidden patterns emerge, and healing sentences are introduced to restore flow and balance.

Group Reflection & Sharing (30–40 mins)
Participants share insights and reflections, followed by simple takeaway practices for continued integration.
